ONC LIHEAP — heating & electric help for Bethel residents
Orutsararmiut Native Council runs LIHEAP for people living in Bethel: fuel, firewood or electric bill help (you choose the split — 100% fuel, 50/50, 25/75 and so on), crisis help if you have a shut-off notice or under 5 gallons of fuel (priority for medical need, elders 60+ and children 5 and under), and weatherization — caulking and insulation, storm windows, heating-system and water-heater repair, minor energy-related roof repair, doors and windows. You must live in Bethel and your household's gross income must be at or below 150% of the federal poverty level. You do not have to be a tribal member: a Tribal OR a valid State ID is accepted, and race is collected for reporting only. People living in subsidized housing (AHFC/ASHA, AVCP or BNC units) are not eligible. One benefit per household per federal fiscal year (Oct 1 - Sep 30). Bring ID, Social Security cards and birth certificates for everyone in the home, 30 days of income proof for every adult, your current AVEC electric bill and fuel bill, and your rental agreement if you rent. ONC office 117 Alex Hately Dr, 907-543-2608 (toll-free in Alaska 800-478-2654), Mon-Fri 8:30am-5pm; email the LIHEAP application to [email protected].
