Kuskokwim Ice Classic (Kusko Ice Classic) - breakup guessing contest and Breakup Bash
The Kuskokwim Ice Classic is Bethel's annual breakup contest: guess the day and minute the tripod on the river ice moves and stops the clock (2026: 8:00 am May 12; $19,100 jackpot split by two winners). Guess online at iceclassic.org or by phone at 907-545-8483 (volunteers staff it during breakup); no same-day guesses. 'Minute Madness' side games sell minutes at $100 or $250 for $4,000/$10,000 prizes. If you see the ice move, call the Ice Classic line. A few days after breakup the Breakup Bash gives free hot dogs and live music at the River Wall on Front Street (across from FNBA).
