Metlakatla–Ketchikan ferry (AMHS MV Lituya)

The MV Lituya is the state ferry dedicated to the Metlakatla-Ketchikan run: about 45 minutes, daily service, 125 passengers and roughly 15 cars (open car deck). The Metlakatla terminal is centrally located in town with parking, ticket counter, vending/ATM and a taxi phone; on the Ketchikan side it uses the AMHS terminal at 3501 Tongass Avenue. Check the current sailing days and times and book at bookamhs.alaska.gov or call AMHS reservations 800-642-0066 (Mon-Fri 8 am-3:30 pm); Metlakatla terminal questions also go through that call center. Vehicle space is limited so reserve ahead, especially in summer. Service note: Metlakatla Indian Community posts said the Lituya was out of service in fall 2026, and the Inter-Island Ferry is running Ketchikan-Metlakatla sailings through Oct 12, 2026 - check with AMHS before you travel.
