Historic Ketchikan is a nonprofit promoting economic development through historic preservation and heritage tourism. In 2026 it purchased the 1905 Yates Memorial Hospital building at 423 Mission Street (its offices; restoration underway, once on the National Trust's 11 Most Endangered list) and is seeking public support. It publishes the downtown Historic Survey (historicketchikan.org/publications), runs History Story posts, organizes National Historic Marker Weekend cleanups each April, and partners on the Ketchikan Salmon Walk, a free 1.5-mile self-guided loop from the Tongass Historical Museum (KetchikanSalmonWalk.org). Contact: 907-225-5515, [email protected], PO Box 23364, Ketchikan, AK 99901.
