Forest Service visitor center at 50 Main St downtown with exhibits on the Tongass rainforest, Native cultures and local history, a 200-seat theater, and an Alaska Public Lands Information Center desk (cabin reservations, trail and permit info). Free October-April; $5 per person May-September (kids 15 and under free with an adult). Call 907-228-6220.
